Flooded
Gallery from the flooded camera!
ABOUT: The usual double check of latches was replaced by nervous energy; a long swim out to sea in South Australian sharky waters took away my concentration—the result: a flooded housing due to user error, an expensive failure. 99% of the time, I walk to the water's edge, do a very quick small dunk, and look for leaks ( this would have picked up my set-up error ). However, I had a two to three-meter jump into the water off the rocks, and instantly, the housing filled with water because it was only partially sealed.
I proceeded to swim along the rocks until I could scramble back up to dry land; the camera waterlogged entirely. I thought the day was over from shooting from the water; this thing had no chance of working. I dried the camera off and take two; I can't believe it was taking photos, and the funny takeaway was that the camera worked for two more years with salt-encrusted insides; I did have to think of some workarounds when the buttons started having a mind of their own.
